Mar's Mission

Mar is an adopted black and white cat, who looks like he's wearing a tuxedo. He's a polydactyl cat, which means that his white, mitten-like hands have extra digits. Mar has eight digits on each hand.

He's happy, healthy, and loved.

It's Mar's mission to see that all #furkids live the same way 🧡

Founding Story

I adopted my first cat when I was in the Peace Corps in southern Africa. Paz, which means "peace" in Spanish, helped with a rat problem in the mud hut I called home. I’ve loved cats ever since.

In 2015 I adopted Mar. He’s been my best buddy ever since. He's the inspiration for Mar's Mission.

Mar’s Mission was launched out of concern for the safety of companion animals following reports suggesting that cats might transmit COVID-19. However, the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention has stated that “there is no evidence the virus can spread to people through the skin, fur, or hair of pets.”

Many animal welfare organizations do extraordinary work — rescuing, treating, sheltering, and helping companion animals find forever homes. However, they often lack the resources to invest in proactive educational initiatives. And yet, the need for education remains constant.

Mar’s Mission dedicates all its resources to developing and promoting educational projects that advance companion animal welfare.
