MAR'S MISSION

Mar is an adopted black and white cat, who looks like he's wearing a tuxedo. He's a polydactyl cat, which means that his white, mitten-like hands have extra digits. Mar has eight digits in each hand.

He is happy, healthy, and very loved.

It's Mar's mission to see that all #furkids live the same way 🧡

FOUNDING STORY

I adopted my first cat when I was in the Peace Corps in southern Africa. Paz, which means "peace" in Spanish, helped with a rat problem in the mud hut I called home. I’ve loved cats ever since.

In 2015 I adopted Mar. He’s been my best buddy ever since. He's the inspiration for Mar's Mission.

Mar’s Mission started due to concerns for the safety of companion animals after some reports about cats possibly transmitting COVID-19. The U.S. Centers for Disease and Control and Prevention says there’s "no evidence that the virus can spread to people from the skin, fur, or hair of pets.”

There are many animal welfare organizations doing extraordinary work. They rescue, treat, shelter and help find forever homes for companion animals. Oftentimes though many of them don’t have the resources to invest in proactive education projects. There’s always a need for education.

Mar’s Mission invests all of its resources in developing and promoting educational projects to help advance companion animal welfare.

Paz, or "peace" in Spanish, was a special pet.
